Principal's Message

Welcome to Glen Ogilvie Public School, home of the Dragons!

Located in the heart of Blackburn Hamlet, we are fortunate to have gorgeous and sprawling school grounds that are complemented by the many paths and parks in the area. The well-established school community is supported by the wonderful staff, students and partners in education that make us proud to be a part of this team!

At Glen Ogilvie we recognize each individual within our community and we value all differences, skills, talents, interests, cultural backgrounds, aspirations and special needs. We strive to instill in our students the skills, attitudes and knowledge required to become self-directed and self-motivated problem solvers, with a life-long love of learning. We support high curriculum expectations in a positive and supportive learning environment, maintaining strong bonds between home and community. We believe in creating safe, equitable and caring learning environments where students can not only grow academically, but thrive personally and feel supported in their social-emotional development as well. Being a Glen O Dragon is a title that we all proudly identify with.

The past few years have challenged us in many ways as we had to navigate the pandemic and the pivots between in-person and remote learning. This year the OCDSB is focused on renewal. While the experience of the pandemic was not easy, it provided opportunities to examine how we do things at Glen O and look for ways to innovate and improve our pedagogy and practices.

As we grow together, we recognize and build upon the strength of our diversity. The varied identities and experiences of our community provide opportunities to learn from each other's differing values and perspectives. The result of our work on promoting equity will be a school community where we all feel welcome, safe, and included.

We invite you to continue to refer back to our school website which will be regularly updated with important information, links and community updates.

We cannot wait to see what the 2022-23 school year has in store for the Glen Ogilvie PS community. We feel very fortunate to be a part of this team.
