Glen Ogilvie School Council is delighted to announce this year’s Gift of Giving Event!
What is the Gift of Giving? It is a winter market-style event, where the children are able to select gifts for two special adults in their lives. The gifts are wrapped by volunteers, and brought home at the end of the day.
When does it take place? During school hours on Friday, December 8th. Classes will be invited one at a time to visit the sale and make their selections.
How much does it cost? Suggested donation is $2 per child ($1 per gift), proceeds will support our local food bank. Please note that no child will be excluded from choosing gifts.
Where do the gifts come from? Families are invited to provide a few new or gently used items that are no longer needed around your home. DO NOT PURCHASE ITEMS TO DONATE. These gifts are for adults. Please do not send toys, open bath/beauty products, food items, knives, or books/videos that are inappropriate for young eyes. When choosing your items, please keep in mind that the children will be transporting their gifts home in backpacks or on the bus. Oversized or delicate items could be damaged in transit. Sporting and tech accessories are always in high demand from students shopping “for dad” and are often in short supply. Additional donations such as tissue paper and gift bags are very much appreciated!!
Suggested gift ideas include:
- Home goods: kitchen items, bottle stoppers, unopened perfume/bath items, BBQ items
Sports (hockey, golf) accessories, flashlights, tools, electronics, camping and fishing gear
Clothing and accessories: scarves, hats, ties, belts, tote bags, purses, sportswear, jewelry
- Decorative items: artwork, picture frames, seasonal ornaments, garden decorations, throw blankets, collectible keepsakes
If you have items to donate right away, they can be delivered to the Merchant family household at 9 Diceman Cres. There is a clearly labeled bin on the porch where donations can be dropped at any time, up until Saturday, December 2nd.
Items will be accepted at school from Monday, November 27th until Wednesday, December 6th.
Volunteers are absolutely essential to make this a successful event. If you are available to help set up, during the event, or to tidy up, please contact Natalie at [email protected]
